This was the PAX Moot Court 2025

28.04.2025

For the fourth time, a team from the University of Vienna, consisting of Donat Binder, Christina Giersig and Selina Schweng took part in the PAX Moot Court for Private International and Civil Procedure Law.

The case of this year's Ulrich-Huber-Round dealt, among other things, with collective legal protection and the conflict of laws treatment of people who work as digital nomads. The case also raised procedural issues following Brexit, with a particular focus on the Hague Judgments Convention.

After the case was published at the end of October, the students drafted one pleading on the plaintiff's side and one on the defendant's side during the winter semester. This was followed by preparations for the oral hearings, which were held from 9 to 11 April at Maastricht University. There, the University of Vienna faced teams from Szeged University (Hungary), Péter Pázmány Catholic University (Hungary), the National University of Singapore (Singapore) and University College Roosevelt (Netherlands) in the general rounds.

After four intense and exciting preliminary round duels, the team from the University of Vienna finished in a fantastic 10th place.

We can look back on an intellectually enriching time in Maastricht and cordially congratulate our team members on their great performances throughout the last months.
